Searching Millions of Legal Documents

Priced July 22, 2021

DISCO listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker LAW. The Austin company sold software for e-discovery, the slow and costly work of reviewing every email and file that might matter in a lawsuit. Law firms had long paid armies of junior lawyers and outside vendors to do it. When DISCO went public in July 2021, cloud software stocks were near their peak and legal tech was still a small corner of the market.

Built by a Lawyer

Kiwi Camara, a lawyer, co-founded DISCO and ran it as CEO. The company was founded in 2013 and based in Austin, Texas. Its bet was that the cloud and machine learning could shrink document review, letting a small team search millions of records quickly and flag the ones that mattered. DISCO charged by the amount of data a case used, so big lawsuits meant big bills.

LAW on the Big Board

DISCO priced at $32 a share on July 20, 2021, above a range it had already raised. It began trading on the NYSE as LAW the next day and traded above $42 that afternoon. The shares later fell hard as growth slowed. Eric Friedrichsen replaced Camara as CEO, and in June 2026 the stock traded under $4. DISCO still trades on the NYSE as LAW.
