An Ad Company Built From Acquisitions

Priced June 21, 2021

Nexxen has carried three names. It began as Taptica, a mobile ad firm listed in London, then became Tremor International after buying Tremor Video. When it sold shares in New York in June 2021, as Tremor, it was an Israeli ad tech company already trading on London's AIM market. Streaming TV was pulling ad money away from cable, and Tremor wanted to reach the deeper pool of American investors.

Buying Both Sides

The company grew mostly by buying other businesses. It took over Tremor Video's buyer-side business in 2017. In 2020 it bought Unruly, a video ad marketplace, from News Corp. The bet was that one company should serve both ends of a video ad: the brands paying for it and the publishers showing it. Owning both sides meant more data and a larger cut of each ad sold.

From TRMR to NEXN

Tremor priced its U.S. offering at $19 per American depositary share on June 17, 2021, and its shares began trading on the Nasdaq as TRMR the next day. In 2022 it bought Amobee from Singtel. The company renamed itself Nexxen in 2023. In February 2025 it left London's AIM market, and Nexxen now trades only on the Nasdaq as NEXN.
